The Nourish Approach

Eating should be one of the most pleasurable parts of your day. Not only is food essential for health and well-being, it is also one of the best ways to share and connect with others. At Nourish we focus on using evidence-based methods to address emotional eating, simplify “what to eat” and improve health through whole foods. We aim to empower our clients to feel confident with food choices and bring joy back into meals!

About Kirby

Kirby’s lifelong passion for helping people improve their lives through food began at age 10 when her mother was diagnosed with Stage IV bladder cancer. Before undergoing treatment, her mom spent two weeks at a raw foods healing institute in California. When she returned she had lost 10 lbs, looked 10 years younger and had glowing skin. Throughout her chemo treatments, the doctors marveled at her lack of symptoms and she came out on the other end cancer free. Watching this transformation and seeing how this initial nutrition therapy so profoundly affected her mother’s cancer journey, demonstrated how powerful nutrition can be.

Despite an early introduction to nutrition, Kirby had her own personal struggles with emotional eating and weight fluctuations. After returning to school for a nutrition degree and applying that knowledge to her own life, she now has a good sense of balance and loves to share that with others! As a dietitian, Kirby loves helping her clients overcome emotional challenges with food, discover the joy of eating and feel vibrant and energized!

She has become an expert in helping problem solve to achieve individual goals and has a unique sense of empathy since she has been on a very similar journey. “Seeing the joy and confidence clients experience - the ‘aha’ moment when a difficulty they have been struggling with finally has a solution - is what makes makes my job so wonderful.”

Kirby graduated from Indiana University in 2007 with a degree in International Studies and Spanish. During her first career in advertising, Kirby completed the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s counseling program, which re-ignited her passion for nutrition. She went back to school in 2011, graduated from Dominican University’s nutrition program in 2015 and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. After working in an outpatient clinic for over 4 years, she now runs her private practice full time. In her free time, Kirby stays busy running after her three young daughters, reading, exercising, cooking and trying new foods and traveling whenever possible.
